Beginning Fall 2014, the Department of Scientific Computing will offer ISC 4971, an Honors in the Major Program course. The Program was developed to encourage undergraduate students to explore their major discipline in greater depth by completing a research or creative project.

The program is designed for upper division students who would take the 3 credit course for two semesters. Upon receiving permission from the department, the student would get an advisor, select a topic, form a committee, write a prospectus describing a research task, carry out that research under the guidance of the advisor, write a publication-quality report, and defend that report before the committee.

Successful participants graduate with honors, a distinction that is announced during commencement exercises and listed on official transcripts. For questions on the honors thesis option, contact our Academic Advisor here. For more information on the program, go to honors.fsu.edu/honors-major.
